Deep River Friends Cemetery

GPR survey of the African American section of this Quaker cemetery in High Point, NC.

A total of one hundred and forty-one potential unmarked burials were identified during the GPR survey at the cemetery and they are shown as red ovals on the cemetery map. A white flag was placed at the head of each GPR anomaly interpreted as a potential unmarked grave.

A Juniper Systems, Inc. Geode GNSS Receiver was used to survey the location of the existing grave markers, unmarked burials, GPR grid corners, and other cemetery features. The names of perimeter headstones were recorded where possible. The numbers on the cemetery map correspond with the names and descriptions listed in Table 1. The marked graves and other cemetery features can be used as reference points to orient the map and locate the unmarked graves in the future.
